Sylvia Laurine Segers

Mrs. Sylvia Laurine Segers, age 97 of Sharon Grove, passed away 6:30 PM, Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at her granddaughter’s home in Elkton of natural causes. Services for Mrs. Sylvia will be 1:00 PM, Friday, August 27, 2021 at Latham Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Wilhite officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Sylvia will be 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Latham Funeral Home and from Noon Friday until time for the service. The service will be live-stream at lathamfuneralhome.com. The family asks that masks be worn at both services please.
Mrs. Sylvia was born August 11, 1924 in Todd County. She was a homemaker and a member of New Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She loved to strip tobacco, go shopping and travel to the beach. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Shemwell and Erman Blake Shemwell; her first husband, James Willis, her second husband, Jessie Edward “Ed” Segers; her son, Carl Thomas Willis; her brother, Clark Shemwell; her sisters, Marie Bryant, Martha Helen Mallory and Margaret Maxwell.
Survivors include her daughters, Fillis Wells of Elkton and Velda Jane Bradshaw of Russellville; her brother, James Calvin Shemwell of Sharon Grove; her sisters, Ruthelle Mayes of Elkton and Joyce Brooks of Louisville; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
