Mr. Steven Wayne Eggers, age 73 of Elkton, passed away 1:00 AM, Friday, January 27, 2023 at his residence. Services for Steve will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Latham Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. The services will be live-streamed at lathamfuneralhome.com. Burial will follow in the Stokes Chapel Cemetery. Visitation with Steve’s family will be 5:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Latham Funeral Home and after 9:00 AM Tuesday until time for the service.
Steve was born October 29, 1949 in Mattoon, Illinois. He was retired from Ardco in Elkton after 27 years of service and later worked for Haley Hardware in Elkton. He loved to collect arrowheads and coins. He loved hunting, cooking and Rolling pecans. Steve taught many people to play guitar and loved his grandchildren. He was a member of Justified Gospel Band playing his guitar at church and other events. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lynda Darlene Eggers in 2008, his parents, Richard and Norma Ella Jean Livingston Eggers, his brother, Dave Eggers, his sister, Diane Griffith and his great grandchild, Riley Paige Rives.
Survivors include his wife Cleda Harris Eggers of Elkton; his son, Jason Higgins and his wife, Elaina of Elkton; his step-sons, Jason Wilson and his wife Amy of Elkton, Ashley Wilson of Clifty; his daughters, Robyn Poyner of Elkton and Tonia Higgins of Hopkinsville; his sisters, Pat Patton of Robinson, Illinois and Linda Martin and her husband Robert of Greenup, Illinois; his grandchildren, Bralen and Dalton Higgins, Jacey and Jamie Wilson, Jaxon, Hayleigh, Corey and Madyln Wilson, Andrew Blake, Aaron Blake and Courtney Talley.
