Nancy Gale Simons, age 76, went to meet her Lord and Savior peacefully and surrounded by her loved ones, April 29, 2022 at her home in Clifty.
She was born on January 29, 1946, the fourth of six children, to Clifton and Estelle Slaughter Groves. In 1962, she married her life-long love, Dickey, in Corinth, Mississippi where they enjoyed many delicious cokes together. They are now united for eternity in Heaven.
Momma was a devoted mother to her three children Karen, Donna (Dean) and Eddie (Ginger). She was a wonderful Mamaw to Craig, Lindsey, Amber, Holly, Maggie, Devon and Delany and to their 11 children. She was a sister to Glendal, Geraldine, Linda Faye, Phyllis and Bobby. As well as a loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
Our mother loved to laugh and sing. Laughter and music followed her everywhere. She was the best medicine anyone could take. If you weren't laughing before you met her, you were sure to be laughing after. She was a strong and determined woman. She could cook the most delicious meal, entertain a house full of grandchildren and wrangle a herd of cows with a Buick all in the same day. She was famous for her delicious chocolate candy, pimento cheese, sourdough bread and endless tootsie rolls from the candy closet. She loved the Lord and her church, her family, UK basketball, southern Gospel music and McDonalds chicken nuggets. As one of the original Groves girls (OGG), she will be sorely missed on the annual girls' trip to the Smoky Mountains.
We invite you to celebrate her life with us on Monday evening from 4:00-8:00pm and Tuesday at 1:00pm at New Harmony General Baptist Church in Clifty.
