Mary Elsie Shumate

Mrs. Mary Elsie Shumate, age 86 of Trenton KY, passed away 3:55 PM Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Covington’s Convalescent Center in Hopkinsville of natural causes. The family has chosen a cremation service with memorial to be held Tuesday October 22, 2019 2:00 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton with Rev. Tommy Wilhite officiating. Burial will follow in the Stokes Chapel Cemetery in Todd County.
Mrs. Shumate was born in Todd County September 11, 1933 she was retired from Flynn Enterprise Elkton Plant. She was a member of Petrie Memorial United Methodist Church, she loved cooking and sewing. Mrs. Shumate is preceded in death by her parents Estes Jones and Lillie Pearl Latham Jones, her husband Norris Ray Shumate, her brothers Ed Jones and David Hightower, her sister Bessie Powell, her grandson Nick Shumate and her great grandson Wyatt Layen Powell.
She is survived by her sons Danny Shumate and his wife Beth of Hopkinsville, KY, David Shumate of Elkton, KY and Steve Shumate of Trenton, KY, her daughters Sharon Carver of Hopkinsville, KY and Shelley Markham of Elkton,KY, her grandchildren Todd and Shannon Shumate, Megan Hobson, Kelly Jarillo and Tara Powell, Terri Lynn Lewis, Michael Murphy, Drew Pool and Stephany Pool and Shelbi Markham, 16 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild.
