Rev Lloyd Allen Tucker

June 7, 1939 ~ June 25, 2021 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Tribute

Rev. Lloyd Allen Tucker, age 82 of Muhlenberg County, changed his residence to Heaven on Friday, June 25, 2021 after a short term illness in Owensboro Regional Hospital.
Lloyd was born June 7, 1939 in Todd County, KY the son of the late William Phillip and Rosie Lee Willis Tucker. He graduated from Elkton High School in Elkton, KY, graduated from Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, TN and Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. Throughout the rest of his life he continued taking classes and workshops to support his ministry.
Lloyd pastored at different churches beginning before he went to college at Hopkinsville Church of the Nazarene for about 18 months. After graduated from Seminary he pastored Forest Lawn Church of the Nazarene in Kokomo, IN for 3 years, St. Bernice Church of the Nazarene in St. Bernice, IN for 3 years and Southside Church of the Nazarene in Indianapolis, IN for 25 years. At Southside they gave him two nicknames: “The Happy Pastor” and “The Smiling Pastor”. Winning souls for the Master was his mission. He saw getting people to Sunday School as an excellent way to get people in church and on their way to Heaven. There were many Sunday School contests to motivate people to invite others to attend. And you could count on two Sunday School drives each year to get more people coming. He also served as Indianapolis District Church School Chairman for several years.
In 2001 Lloyd had a change in his ministry. He had his status as Pastor changed to Chaplain at the headquarters of the Church of the Nazarene in Lenexa, Kansas. Since then he has happily and proudly served as Chaplain for Pennyroyal Hospice in Hopkinsville, KY. Retirement was something Lloyd was always going to do next year. Lloyd felt good about his work for Hospice because he had a big heart for helping people.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents William Tucker and Rosie Lee Willis Tucker, his son William Lloyd “Bill” Tucker in 2020, his brothers Virgil Driskill and James Norwood Tucker, his sisters Addie Harris, Estelle Wilson and Sylvia Jacobs.
He is survived by his wife of 61 and a half years Rebeccah Tucker of Muhlenberg County, his daughter in law Sandy Hill Tucker of Muhlenberg County, his brother Edward Kenneth Tucker and his wife Betty of Newburg Park, CA, his sisters Betty Richardson of Martinsville, IN and Glennie Moss of Louisville, KY and a host of nieces and nephews.
Instead of sending flowers to honor Rev. Lloyd Tucker the family would be very pleased if you would donate to his beloved Hospice. Pennyroyal Hospice, 220 Burley Ave., Hopkinsville, KY 42240. Envelopes will be available at the services.
