Mrs. Joreed McGehee, age 99 of Muhlenberg County, passed away 8:00 AM, Thursday, June 17, 2021 at her residence of natural causes. Services will be Sunday June 20, 2021 1:30 p.m. at New Harmony General Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Evitts and Chaplin Adam Bridgeman. officiating. Burial will follow in the Bivins-New Harmony Cemetery in Todd County. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:30 p.m.
Mrs. McGehee was born in Todd County September 26, 1921. She was a homemaker and farmer and a member of New Harmony General Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher, she also sang in the Todd County Choir, she was a member of Eastern Star where she was past Worthy Matron of the Madeline Chapter #64 in Greenville, KY. Mrs. McGehee also loved to cook especially cornbread and chocolate pies. She is preceded in death by her husband William Hazel McGehee in 2013, her parents Emmitt Lee Slaughter Sr and Euna Carnall Slaughter and her step mother Mable Heltsley Slaughter, her grandson William Lloyd “Bill” Tucker.
She is survived by her daughters Betty Smith and her husband G.W. of Madison, TN, Rebeccah Sue Tucker and her husband Lloyd of Muhlenberg County, and Patricia Petrie and her husband George of Muhlenberg County, 4 grandchildren; Mary Downey, JohThomas Wiles, Vicky Petrie Noffsinger and Greg Petrie. 10 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
