Charlene Slaughter Joines

Mrs. Charlene Slaughter Joines, age 82 of Clifty, passed away 1:00 AM, Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Hospice House of Southern KY in Bowling Green, KY. Services for Mrs. Charlene will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Latham Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Chapman and Rev. Mike Miller officiating. The service will be live-streamed at lathamfuneralhome.com. Burial will follow at the Clifty Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Charlene will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday at Latham Funeral Home.
Mrs. Charlene was born August 22, 1939 in Clifty, KY. She was retired from Todd County School System as Cafeteria Manager having served at Clifty School and North Todd School. She also worked in the cafeteria at Logan Aluminum making all kinds of desserts. She was a very active member of Clifty Christian Church where she played the piano and sang. She loved cooking for friends and family. Mrs. Charlene also loved to make quilts with her sisters and giving them to all the family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Clayton Groves and Eva Lee Turner Groves, her first husband James Slaughter were married from 1957 to 1984, her second husband, Granville Joines were married from 1989 to 2003, and her sister Nona Phillips.
Survivors include her son, Larry Slaughter and his wife Angela of Clifty, her step son, Glendle “Bobo” Joines and his wife Lisa of Lewisburg, her daughter, Debbie Jordan and her husband Randy of Allegre, her step daughter, Lisa Slaughter and her husband Gary of Lewisburg, her sisters, Wanda Groves and Maulta Blake both of Clifty; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
