Carter Monroe Threlkel, 90, of Elkton, Kentucky, died June 1, 2021. He was born November 19, 1930, in Butler County, Kentucky, the son of the late Carter and Carrie Threlkel. He was one of eleven children. On June 26, 1948, he married Virginia Louise McKinney, who survives.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Deane Threlkel of Elkton; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Effie Threlkel of Trenton; grandchildren Kim McCormick, Wendy Longworth, Josh Threlkel, Desaray Stevenson, Tiffany Martin; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild.
Monroe was a lifetime member of the NRA, founding member of the Todd County Gun Club, charter member of the Elkton Lion’s Club, member of Vesper Lodge No. 71. and member of the Civitan Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and carpentry. He combined his love for carpentry and his devotion to family by building and naming the Lynnview subdivision in Elkton after his grandchildren.
Services for Monroe will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Latham Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Fowler officiating. The service will be live-streamed at lathamfuneralhome.com. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 AM, Saturday at Latham Funeral Home until time for the service.
