Mr. Bryan Whitfield “B.B.” Blount III, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023 at Jubilee House Assisted Living in Clarksville, TN. Services for Bryan will be Saturday February 25, 2023 1:00 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 7600 Russellville Rd., Guthrie, KY with Father Frank Ruff officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery in Elkton, KY. Visitation will be Friday February 24, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton with the prayer service to follow at 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Blount was born January 2, 1924 in New Smyrna Beach, FL. He held a BA Degree in Commerce from the University of Kentucky. He was retired from Ashland Oil Company after 33 years. Mr. Blount served as Elkton Mayor from 1990 to 1998. He had also been an agent for Power Real Estate in Elkton. He was a decorated U.S. Army Veteran of World War II having earned a Purple Heart in the Philippine Liberation Campaign. He was a very active member of the Elkton Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. Mr. Blount served on numerous boards including, Hopkinsville Community College, Hopkinsville Community College Foundation, Todd County Aging Council, Todd County Industrial Foundation, and Blount Rural Health Clinic. He also served on the St. Susan and St. Francis of Assisi Parish Council and was church Treasurer. He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Haley Blount in 2011, his parents Bryan Whitfield Blount Jr and Jane Marie Gregory Blount.
He is survived by his daughter Ann Toliver and her husband Gary of Madison, TN; his step daughters, Carolyn V. Gault of Syracuse, NY, Anita Gault Moriarty of Elkton and Alisa Gault Walsh and her husband Terry of Elkton; his step sons, William L. “Billy” Gault III and his wife Ann of Raceland, KY, and Burt Gault and his wife Vivian of Bowling Green, KY; his sister Jane Blount Michler of Lexington, KY, 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
