Mr. Gilbert Lee Sweeney age 77 of Clifty, KY passed away Saturday June 3, 2017 10:24 a.m. at Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital in Bowling Green, KY of natural causes. Services will be Tuesday June 6, 2017 1:00 p.m. at Trinity General Baptist Church in Clifty, KY with Rev. James Roy Lear, Rev Chad Sweeney and Rev. Jerry Sweeney officiating. Burial will follow in the Bivins Cemetery in Todd County. Visitation will be Monday June 5, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton, KY, and after 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church until the funeral hour.
Mr. Sweeney was born in Todd County February 13, 1939 the son of the late H.L. Sweeney and Elgie Mayes Sweeney. He was a Master Logger and Owner/Operator of Sweeney’s Logging. He was a member of Trinity General Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Sue Sweeney of Clifty, KY, his sons Randle and his wife Karen Sweeney of Clifty, KY and Michael Sweeney of Sharon Grove, KY, his daughter Debbie and her husband Steve McIntosh of Sharon Grove, KY, his brother William Sweeney of Clifty, KY, his sisters Fada Mae White of Dunmore, KY, Jane Kendrick, Jossie Knight, Edna Christmas and Bonnie Cain all of Clifty, KY, 7 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.
