Mrs. Ethel Mae Poe age 85 of Allegre, KY passed away Friday February 2, 2018 in Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN as a result of injuries she received in an automobile accident in Logan County, KY. Services will be Tuesday February 6, 2018 11:00 a.m. at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton, KY with Rev. Freddie Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Francies Cemetery in Allegre, KY. Visitation will be Monday February 5, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton.
Mrs. Poe was born August 4, 1932 in Todd County the daughter of the late Edgar Evans and Mary Gillie Mitchell Hightower. She was retired from Fort Campbell, KY Civil Service. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, and an active member of the Elkton Senior Citizens, she participated in the Pennyrile Senior Games each year where she won many Medals. She also loved going to the dances at the Kirkmansville Community Center. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Glendle “Shorty” Poe in 1999.
She is survived by her daughters Cynthia Latham, Gloria Logan and Phyllis Blake all of Hopkinsville, KY, her brother Kenneth Hightower of Middleburg, FL, 8 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be given to Poe Family Relay for Life Team, C/O Dana Walters, 10306 Pilot Rock Road, Hopkinsville, KY 42240 or Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, 770 M. Hall Rd., Elkton, KY 42220.
